Anyone that knows me knows that I am a huge film and television person. I will watch just about any movie so long as it looks like it has some sort of promise. Last month I roped two of my cousins into going and seeing the Disney film Tangled with me. I'll admit that I was mainly going and seeing it because one of my favorite actors, Zachari Levi, voices the character of Flynn Rider. Over the past few years I have been slightly disappointed in the films that Disney has made, in exception to the ones paired with Pixar. So as I was walking into the film I had no expectations. I had heard that it was the best Disney had done since Beauty and the Beast but I didn't want to get my hopes up. After all, Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite animated film plus it is the only animated film to win the academy award for best picture.
I can say is that I was blown away by the film. And it isn't just because Alan Menken composed the music for the film. If you don't know who he is, he is the guy that composed Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, etc. Duh. It truly had the feel of the good, old Disney classics.
If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. It is a hilarious movie with well thought out characters. The story is fantastic, the music unforgettable, and it is just plain awesomeness. Unfortunately it didn't make the cut for the academy awards but it's a winner in my eyes. If only Toy Story 3 hadn't come out last year.
